How to redact a PDF

Upload your PDF from your device, or pull it directly from Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Without an account you can redact one file up to 80 MB. With a free account you can redact up to 3 files at once - 80 MB each, 120 MB in total.

Click and drag anywhere on a page to draw a black box over what you want to redact - text, an image, a signature, or a whole section. Drag a box to reposition it, pull its handles to resize, or click the × to delete - and undo any change while you work.

Add as many redactions as you need, on any page. The black boxes are a preview - the underlying content is still in the file at this stage.

Click Redact PDF to apply. The content under every box is permanently stripped from the document - not just covered. Even copy-paste and text search will turn up nothing.

Wie schwärze ich ein PDF richtig?

Genau das passiert hier: Text, Bilder und Zeichnungen unter jedem Balken werden aus der Datei entfernt, Formularfelder darunter ebenfalls, und Metadaten wie Autor und Titel werden geleert. Niemand kann den Balken verschieben und darunter lesen.

Warum reicht ein schwarzes Rechteck nicht?

Eine Form über dem Text verdeckt ihn nur optisch; die Wörter darunter lassen sich weiterhin markieren, kopieren oder per Suche finden. Echtes Schwärzen, wie hier, löscht sie aus der Datei selbst.

Kann ich statt Schwarz eine andere Farbe nehmen?

Ja. Balken können schwarz, weiß, grau oder rot sein. Weiß eignet sich, wenn die entfernte Stelle mit der Seite verschmelzen soll.

Kann ich dieselbe Stelle auf allen Seiten schwärzen?

Ja. Zeichnen Sie den Balken einmal und wenden Sie ihn auf alle Seiten an, praktisch für Kopf- oder Fußzeilen oder eine Kontonummer an derselben Stelle jeder Seite.

Kann ich Balken verschieben, ändern oder rückgängig machen?

Ja. Balken verschieben, an den Griffen in der Größe ändern, mit dem × löschen und mit Rückgängig zurückgehen. Entfernt wird erst, wenn Sie die Schwärzung anwenden.

Kann ich nach einem Wort suchen und alle Treffer schwärzen?
