Frequently asked questions

What input formats can I convert to JPG?
PNG, WEBP, HEIC, HEIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and SVG are all supported. The output is always a standard .jpg file that opens in any image viewer.
Can I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone?
Yes - this is one of the most common uses. HEIC is the default format on newer iPhones but many apps, websites, and Windows PCs do not open it. Convert to JPG and the photo works everywhere.
What happens to transparent PNGs when converted to JPG?
JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent areas are filled with a solid white background by default. If you need to keep transparency, our Compress Image tool can output WEBP or PNG instead.
Will the image quality drop?
Almost no visible difference - we encode at high JPEG quality. JPG is a lossy format so some compression is part of the conversion, but on photos and screenshots the result looks the same as the original.
Will the dimensions change?
No. Width and height stay exactly as in the original. We only change the file format, not the pixel size of your image.
What about animated GIFs?
Animated GIFs are flattened to the first frame in the output JPG (since JPG does not support animation). If you need a still image of a specific frame, edit the GIF first.
Can I convert multiple images at once?
Yes. Without an account you can convert up to 30 images in one go (80 MB total, up to 20 MB per file). With a free account that rises to 100 images (120 MB total). When you convert more than one, the results come back as a single ZIP.
Can I import from Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive?
Yes. Use the cloud buttons on the upload screen to pull images in directly. No need to download them to your device first.
Are my files kept private?
