How to compress an image

1
Upload your images from your device, or pull them directly from Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, and more are supported.
2
Pick a compression level - go for the smallest size, the best quality, or a balanced default that works for most cases.
3
See the before-and-after side by side. Original size and compressed size are shown so you know exactly how much you have saved.
4
Click Compress to apply. Each image is shrunk while keeping the original dimensions intact.
5
Download your compressed images as a ZIP for batch jobs, or one by one for single files, or save them back to the cloud.

Why use our Compress Image tool

Multiple formats supported
JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, GIF, and BMP all work. The tool auto-detects the format and picks the right compression for each one.
Smart compression
We squeeze out unused bytes while keeping your photo looking like the original. Most images shrink 50-90 percent with no visible difference.
Adjustable quality
Pick how aggressive the compression is - max savings for web and social uploads, lighter touch for portfolio and print.
Keep or resize dimensions
By default the width and height stay the same. Need smaller pixels for the web? Set a max width and we will scale the image down before compressing.
Before and after comparison
Side-by-side preview plus exact file sizes - so you can see what you saved before you download.
Batch processing
Compress up to 30 images at once without an account (80 MB total), or up to 100 with a free account (120 MB total) - up to 20 MB per file. Each gets its own optimised output, bundled as a ZIP.
Cloud import
Pull images from Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive without a local download step.
ZIP bundle for batches
Compressing many files at once? Your results come back as one tidy ZIP - just unzip and use.
Private by design
Compression runs entirely in your browser - your images are never uploaded to a server just to be compressed (only if you choose cloud import or sharing).
Free, no watermark
No watermark on your images, no signup needed for single jobs, no per-day cap on compressions.

Frequently asked questions

What image formats can I compress?
JPG (and .jpeg), PNG, WEBP, HEIC, GIF, and BMP are all accepted as input. The output can be saved as JPEG, WEBP, or PNG - useful for converting HEIC photos to JPG, or swapping PNG to WEBP for the web.
How much smaller will my image be?
Typically 50-90 percent smaller for photos, depending on the compression level you pick and how the original was saved. A 5 MB phone photo often comes back at 500 KB to 1 MB.
Will my photo lose quality?
At the default level, the difference is invisible to the eye - we strip out hidden data and re-encode efficiently without changing how the image looks. The smallest-size setting trades a bit of visible quality for a much smaller file.
Will the dimensions change?
No. Width and height stay exactly the same as the original. The file gets lighter, but the image fits the same dimensions it always did - useful when the upload target requires specific pixel sizes.
Can I compress multiple images at once?
Yes. Without an account you can compress up to 30 images in one go (80 MB total, up to 20 MB per file). With a free account that rises to 100 images (120 MB total). When you compress more than one, the results come back as a single ZIP.
Can I import from Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive?
Yes. Use the cloud buttons on the upload screen to pull images in directly. No need to download them to your device first.
Will the file metadata (EXIF) be kept?
By default EXIF is stripped out during re-encoding, which helps the file get smaller and removes embedded GPS location. If you need to keep it, switch on the "Keep metadata (EXIF)" option before compressing - it copies the EXIF from JPEG originals into the JPEG output.
Are my files kept private?
Yes - compression happens entirely in your browser, so your images are never uploaded to our servers just to be compressed. They only leave your device if you choose cloud import or create a share link, both over HTTPS.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The tool runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet, or desktop. Great for shrinking phone photos before sending them on WhatsApp or email.
