Frequently Asked Questions
How do I split a PDF file?
Upload your PDF above, choose how to split it (every page, page ranges, every few pages, or pages to remove) and click Split. Several files download together as a ZIP, and a single range downloads as one PDF.
How do I split a PDF online for free?
Everything happens online, right in your browser, with nothing to install. Splitting PDF files here is free, with no watermark, no subscription and no signup.
How do I separate PDF pages into individual files?
Choose the mode that splits every page, and each page of your PDF becomes its own file. You can leave out pages you don't need, and all the separate PDFs download together in one ZIP.
How do I extract pages from a PDF?
Choose the page-range mode and type the pages you want, for example 1-3, 7 or 10-12. Each range becomes its own PDF, so you can pull out a single chapter, a signed page or just the pages you need to share.
Can I split a PDF every few pages?
Yes. Choose the every-N-pages mode and set the number, for example 2 or 10. The PDF is divided into equal parts, which is handy for splitting a long scan into separate documents.
How do I cut pages out of a PDF?
To cut pages out, use the mode that removes pages: type the pages to drop and download the rest as a new PDF. To cut specific pages out into their own file instead, use the page-range mode.
Is this PDF splitter really free?
Yes. This PDF splitter is free to use online, with no hidden charges, no subscription and no watermark on your files. You can split a PDF of up to 80 MB without an account, or 100 MB with a free account.
How do I unmerge a PDF?
To unmerge a PDF that was built from several documents, use page ranges that match the original parts, for example 1-4, 5-9 and 10-15. Each range becomes its own PDF again.
How do I split a PDF without Adobe Acrobat?
You don't need Adobe Acrobat, a subscription or any installed software. The splitter works in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and Android.
Can I split PDF pages in half?
Split PDF separates whole pages; it doesn't cut one page into two halves. If you want to keep only part of each page, for example one side of a two-page scan, use Crop PDF. Open Crop PDF
Can I split and merge PDFs together?
Yes. Split out the pages you need, then combine them with other files in Merge PDF. When you extract a single range, you can send it straight to Merge PDF without uploading it again. Open Merge PDF
Is there a file size or page limit?
Without an account: up to 80 MB per PDF. With a free account: up to 100 MB. There is no fixed page limit, so you can split as many pages as fit within those file sizes.
Will splitting reduce the quality of my document?
No. Every page keeps its original resolution, fonts and formatting. Nothing is compressed or altered when the PDF is split.
Are my files kept private?
Yes. Smaller PDFs are split directly in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. Larger files are processed on our secure server over HTTPS and deleted within one hour. Switch to Browser mode if you want your files to stay on your device.
