Terms of Service

Effective: January 2026 · iHatePDF.com

Before we get into the formal language: iHatePDF exists because dealing with PDFs should not require expensive software, a subscription, or surrendering your files to an unknown server indefinitely. We built this service to be fast, honest, and genuinely free. These terms exist to protect both you and us - not to trap you in fine print.

1Using This Service

iHatePDF is available to anyone for personal, educational, and professional document processing. You do not need an account to use any of our tools. We ask only that you use the service for lawful purposes and that the files you upload belong to you or you have clear permission to process them.

2Your Files Belong to You

This is not a cloud storage service. When you upload a file, you grant iHatePDF a narrow, temporary, and non-exclusive right to process that file for the specific task you requested - nothing more. The moment that task is complete and your files are removed from our servers (within one hour), that right expires entirely. We do not claim ownership over any file you upload or any output you download.

3What We Ask You Not to Do

Please do not use iHatePDF to process files that contain malware, ransomware, or malicious code. Do not upload material that is illegal, defamatory, or that infringes on someone else's copyright or intellectual property. Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or exploit our infrastructure through automated scripts, bots, or bulk requests. We reserve the right to block access to users who abuse the service.

4Free to Use, With Limits

Our core tools are and will remain free. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but we will never quietly move existing free features behind a paywall without clear notice. If you are using the free tier, please be mindful that the service is shared - processing very large volumes of files in an automated way is not what the free tier is designed for.

5Accuracy and Reliability

We use well-tested, industry-standard libraries to process your documents and we take output quality seriously. That said, PDF processing is genuinely complex - formatting, fonts, embedded content, and file structures vary enormously. We cannot guarantee perfect results for every file. If a conversion does not meet your needs, we always recommend keeping a copy of your original before processing.

6Service Availability

We work hard to keep iHatePDF fast and available. Occasionally, maintenance, updates, or unexpected technical issues may cause brief interruptions. We will communicate planned downtime in advance where we can. We are not liable for losses caused by service unavailability, but we take uptime seriously and will address disruptions as quickly as possible.

7Limitation of Liability

iHatePDF is provided in good faith and to the best of our ability. However, to the extent permitted by law, we cannot be held liable for indirect damages, data loss, file corruption, or business losses resulting from your use of the service. If something goes wrong with a critical document, please contact us - we want to know and we will do our best to help.

8Changes to These Terms

If we make changes to these terms that affect your rights in a meaningful way, we will update the effective date shown above and make those changes clear. We will not silently expand our rights over your data. Continuing to use iHatePDF after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9Governing Law

These terms are governed by applicable law in the jurisdiction in which iHatePDF operates. We prefer to resolve any disagreements directly and informally - if you have a concern, please reach out to us first.

10Questions and Contact

If anything in these terms is unclear, or if you have a concern about how the service is being used, please get in touch through our website. We are a small team and we read every message. We would rather answer a question than have someone feel uncertain about their rights.
