How do I add a watermark to a PDF for free?
Add your PDF in the box above, type your watermark text or choose an image, set the look and position, and download. Every page you chose gets the watermark. It's free, and we add no branding of our own.
How do I add a logo or image as a watermark?
Choose an image watermark and select your logo, stamp or signature file. A PNG with a transparent background looks best. Set its size, opacity and rotation, then place it.
How do I add a DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL watermark?
Type DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or any other text, choose a colour, lower the opacity so the page stays readable and rotate it diagonally, for example 45 degrees.
Can I put the watermark exactly where I want?
Yes. Pick one of nine preset positions, or hold and drag the watermark on the preview to place it anywhere on the page.
How do I repeat the watermark across the whole page?
Turn on the tiled (mosaic) layout to repeat the watermark across each page, and adjust the tile spacing to make it denser or lighter.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Apply it to all pages, or choose Range and type the pages, such as 1 for the cover only or 1-3, 5, 8.
How do I watermark my ID before sending it?
When you send a passport or ID card copy to a landlord, bank or employer, add a watermark such as Copy for rental application, with the date. It shows where the copy belongs and makes it harder to reuse elsewhere.
Can the watermark be removed?
It's written into the page content, not added as a loose comment, so it can't simply be clicked away. Determined editing can still alter any PDF; for stronger protection, also restrict editing with Protect PDF.
Can you remove a watermark from my PDF?
No. This tool adds watermarks; it doesn't remove them. If a document you received carries someone else's watermark, ask the owner for a clean copy.
Does the watermark text work in every language?
Yes for most languages. Type the text directly in Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, Khmer, Myanmar, Armenian, Georgian, Ethiopic or an Indian script such as Devanagari (Hindi, Nepali), Bengali or Tamil. Right-to-left text reads correctly, joined letters connect, and the PDF stays searchable: copying or searching finds the watermark text.
How do I watermark a PDF on Mac or iPhone?
