How we keep it free
iHatePDF is supported by display advertising (Google AdSense and similar). Ads help cover the cost of servers, document processing, and ongoing development - so we can keep the core toolkit accessible to students, freelancers, small businesses, and anyone who just needs to fix a PDF without signing up to anything.
We try to keep ads tasteful and never inside your file workflow. We will never sell or share the contents of your documents - they exist on our servers only long enough to process your request, and then they are gone.
About future premium features
We may, in the future, offer optional premium features - for example, very large file processing, advanced AI document tasks, batch automation, or an ad-free experience for power users. If we do, those features will be clearly marked as premiumbefore you start using them.
We will never quietly move existing free features behind a paywall. If anything material changes in what is free vs paid, we will tell you directly and give you advance notice.
A note on fair use
The free tier is a shared service. Please be mindful that processing very large volumes of files in an automated way (scripts, scrapers, mass batch jobs) is not what the free tier is designed for and may be rate-limited so that everyone gets a smooth experience. For high-volume, programmatic, or commercial workflows, please contact us - we are happy to discuss an arrangement that works for both sides.

Are there hidden limits?
Files up to 50 MB each, reasonable rate limits to keep the service fast for everyone. No signup, no trial trap.
Do you keep my files?
No. Files are auto-deleted within 1 hour. Many tools (like Merge for small batches) run entirely in your browser and never upload at all.
Will you start charging me?
Not for what is free today. New optional premium features may be added later, but the existing free tools stay free.
Can I support the project?
The simplest way: tell a friend, link to us, leave the ads alone. That is what keeps the lights on.
