What "direct editing" actually means

Most online PDF editors are overlay tools. They place your new text in a floating box on top of the existing PDF page. The original text underneath stays in place. If someone deletes your floating box, the original returns. If they copy text out of the "edited" PDF, they get the original content, not your changes.

Editly works differently. When you click on text, the actual text block in the document becomes editable. Change a word, the word changes in the PDF data itself. Delete a paragraph, the paragraph is gone from the file. Copy-paste from the exported PDF, you get the new content, not the old. Add and edit text

Insert new text blocks anywhere on the page, or edit existing content directly with full font and colour control. The toolbar exposes font family, weight, size, and colour so each change matches the original visual style.

Add images

Insert images directly onto any page and resize or reposition them freely. Logos, signatures, photos, watermarks all drop in with drag positioning and corner-handle resizing.

Highlight and annotate

Highlight key passages with multiple colours, add comments for review, and annotate documents for collaboration. Useful for legal reviews, manuscript editing, and team feedback rounds.

Draw and sketch
